Racing Resources: What to Bring
Points
to remember:
- There
can be a lot of glare on the water. Protect your eyes!
- The
sun can often burn your skin in less than 30 minutes. Short
yachting races last about 1 hour.
- When
sailing with the wind, it can feel quite warm - but when sailing
into the wind, the temperature drops significantly
Bring
a small backpack with you. Note: Be conscious
of the weight you're bringing - only bring what you absolutely
need! You might want to bring:
- Extra
layer of clothing
- Sunglasses
and sunscreen
- Baseball
cap or toque
- Fingerless
sailing or biking gloves
- Shoes
with NON-MARKING (preferably light-coloured) soles
- Minimum
1 L water. For long distance races, 2 L or more
- High
calorie snacks. Should be fast/easy to consume! (energy bars,
apple, etc)
